3DVIP is free, has no accounts, and puts nothing behind a paywall. Running it still costs money — hosting, bandwidth for preview images, storage, and domain renewal — plus the hours that go into sorting, checking, and describing files.
Advertising covers most of that. Support from people who find the library useful covers the rest.
Supporting without paying anything
These help as much as money, and cost nothing:
- Do not block ads on this site. Advertising is what keeps downloads free and open to everyone.
- Report dead links. A broken entry wastes everyone’s time and we cannot spot them all. Send the page address to contact@3dvip.org.
- Tell us when a specification is wrong — wrong renderer, wrong 3ds Max version, wrong polygon count. Accuracy is the reason to use a library instead of a search engine.
- Share your own work. One good scene helps more people than a donation does. See the Partners page.
- Pass the site on to someone who spends their day in 3ds Max.
Contributing money
If you want to contribute financially, write to contact@3dvip.org and we will send current details.
Two things to be clear about before you do:
A contribution buys nothing. It is not a purchase, not a subscription, and not a licence. It does not grant commercial rights to any file, does not remove advertising, and does not unlock anything — because nothing here is locked.
Contributions are not refundable, since nothing is being sold. Only give what you are comfortable giving away.
In particular, contributing does not change the licence position of any model. Commercial and client work still needs permission from whoever holds the rights — see the Terms of Use. No payment to this site can grant rights we do not hold ourselves.
Where it goes
Server and bandwidth costs first, then domain renewal and storage. Anything beyond that goes into the library itself — rendering better preview images, and checking scenes actually open before they are published.
Thanks for reading this far, and for using the library.
